A temperature data logger works in four basic steps. First, one or more temperature sensors — thermocouples or PT100 RTDs — are connected to the instrument's input terminals. The user sets a logging interval (how often readings are taken — for example every 1 minute or every 10 minutes) from the front panel. At each interval, the instrument reads all connected sensors and stores the temperature values together with the date and time in its memory or directly onto a USB pen drive.
When the logging period is complete, the stored data is retrieved — either by removing the USB pen drive and opening the CSV file directly in Microsoft Excel, or by downloading it to a computer via a serial connection. The result is a complete, timestamped temperature record for every sensor over the entire logging period.
